Paul and Marie-Laure

“Quelque chose d’ancien, quelque chose de neuf, quelque chose d’emprunté, quelque chose de bleu.”

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

In researching the history of the American wedding,  I’ve found that many of  wedding our customs originated in France.   That’s not surprising considering that France (and the French people) are considered the most romantic in the world.    Carol and I were so fascinated by the French Tradition that we chose to have our own wedding in Paris.

Not so for Marie-Laure and Paul.    Paul is from right here in Birmingham.  Marie-Laure and her family traveled from southern France to celebrate the wedding in a grand American style.    They were wed in a beautifully elegant ceremony at Saint Lukes Episcopal Church in Mountain Brook.    The reception was equally beautiful and was held at the Vestavia Hills Country Club.

Marie-Laure - Hey Mark,

We’re so glad that we found you to photograph our wedding. The pictures are stunning, and the extra work that you did on them really shows. You were great to work with and it was really helpful for me to have Carol around on the day of the wedding—she certainly knows her way around weddings and had some really good advice.

I can’t wait to see how our album turns out, but I’m sure that it will be as dramatic and professional as all your other work with us has been. Good luck with everything, and I hope that you’re able to get back to Paris like you talked about.

Warmest wishes,

Marie-Laure and Paul
